Preparation Steps
Step 1/7
Cook the orzo pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Step 2/7
In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked orzo, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, lemon juice, and fresh basil. Mix well.
Step 3/7
Season the shrimp with cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Step 4/7
Heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil and butter in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook until pink, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
Step 5/7
In the same pan, add the bell peppers and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and thyme and cook for another minute.
Step 6/7
Pour in the white wine and let it reduce by half. Then add the milk or heavy cream and grated parmesan. Stir until the sauce thickens.
Step 7/7
Return the shrimp to the pan and toss to coat in the sauce. Serve the shrimp over the lemon basil orzo.
