Preparation Steps
Step 1/8
Add the butter, caster sugar, and brown sugar to a mixing bowl. Whisk briefly until evenly combined.
Step 2/8
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Whisk until smooth and fully incorporated.
Step 3/8
Add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Fold gently until no dry flour remains.
Step 4/8
Fold the chocolate chips through the dough. Stop mixing as soon as the chips are evenly distributed.
Step 5/8
Scoop the dough into portions using an ice cream scoop. Refrigerate the scooped dough for 120 to 240 minutes, preferably overnight.
Step 6/8
Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F. Press each chilled dough portion into a heart-shaped cookie cutter on a baking tray.
Step 7/8
Sprinkle the tops lightly with sea salt. Bake the cookies in their molds for 12 to 15 minutes until golden around the edges.
Step 8/8
Remove the baking tray from the oven. Let the cookies cool in the molds for 10 minutes before gently removing them.
