Preparation Steps
Step 1/10
Choose a clean area of fresh snow outdoors where the temperature is below freezing.
Step 2/10
Press the large mixing bowl into the snow to create a deep, bowl-shaped well.
Step 3/10
Scatter about 1 cup (300 g) salt evenly across the bottom of the snow well.
Step 4/10
Nest the empty large mixing bowl firmly back into the salted snow well.
Step 5/10
Pour 500 ml (16.9 fl oz) whipping cream into the chilled large mixing bowl.
Step 6/10
Add 50 g (about 0.42 cup) powdered sugar and 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract to the cream.
Step 7/10
Whisk the mixture continuously for 5 to 10 minutes until it thickens into soft-serve consistency.
Step 8/10
Alternatively, beat the mixture with a cordless hand mixer until thick and softly frozen.
Step 9/10
Freeze the bowl for 10 to 15 minutes if the soft serve is too loose to scoop.
Step 10/10
Scoop the snow soft-serve into serving bowls and serve immediately.
