Preparation Steps
Step 1/10
Remove the crusts from 10 white bread slices and crumble the soft bread into small pieces.
Step 2/10
Pour 100 ml whole milk over the crumbled bread and mix until the bread absorbs the milk.
Step 3/10
Add 1 teaspoon ghee and 1 teaspoon milk powder, then knead into a smooth, soft dough.
Step 4/10
Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and roll each portion into a smooth medium-sized ball without cracks.
Step 5/10
Combine 200 g granulated sugar and 355 ml water in a saucepan, then heat until the sugar dissolves.
Step 6/10
Add 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom and 1/2 teaspoon rose water, then boil the syrup for a few seconds.
Step 7/10
Turn off the heat when the syrup is slightly sticky and has a lightly oily appearance.
Step 8/10
Heat 500 ml ghee in a deep frying pan over low heat, then fry the dough balls slowly until evenly golden brown.
Step 9/10
Lift the fried balls from the ghee and transfer them directly into the warm sugar syrup.
Step 10/10
Keep the gulab jamuns submerged in the syrup for at least 120 minutes so they become soft and juicy.
