Preparation Steps
Step 1/10
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line one 7-inch round cake pan, or grease one 8-inch loaf pan.
Step 2/10
Place 150 g unsalted butter and 150 g granulated sugar in a mixing bowl. Beat until the mixture is pale, light, and fluffy.
Step 3/10
Add 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract to the creamed mixture. Beat briefly until combined.
Step 4/10
Add the 3 eggs one at a time. Beat well after each addition until fully incorporated.
Step 5/10
Sift 150 g all-purpose flour and 1.5 teaspoons baking powder into a second mixing bowl. Whisk or stir the dry ingredients together.
Step 6/10
Fold one-third of the sifted dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Fold gently with a rubber spatula until mostly combined.
Step 7/10
Fold in half of the 60 ml milk. Repeat alternating the remaining dry ingredients and milk until a thick, smooth batter forms.
Step 8/10
Transfer the batter to the prepared pan. Smooth the surface evenly with the rubber spatula.
Step 9/10
Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 35 to 45 minutes. Test the center with a skewer; the cake is done when it comes out clean.
Step 10/10
Cool the cake in its pan for 10 minutes. Transfer it to a cooling rack and cool completely before slicing.
