Preparation Steps
Step 1/9
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a 7-inch cake pan.
Step 2/9
Finely zest 1 orange. Rub the orange zest into 100 g caster sugar with your fingertips until fragrant and evenly colored.
Step 3/9
Add 50 g brown sugar, 100 g brown butter, 70 g yogurt, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the orange sugar. Whisk until smooth.
Step 4/9
Sift 150 g all-purpose flour, 30 g almond flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda into a separate bowl. Whisk the dry ingredients together.
Step 5/9
Add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture in batches. Alternate additions with 120 ml milk and fold only until no dry flour remains.
Step 6/9
Add 60 ml orange juice to the batter. Whisk gently just until the batter is smooth.
Step 7/9
Pour the batter into the prepared 7-inch cake pan. Sprinkle 60 g almond flakes evenly over the top.
Step 8/9
Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 40 to 45 minutes. Test the center with a skewer; it is ready when the skewer comes out clean.
Step 9/9
Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer it to a wire rack and cool before slicing.
