Arrange about 8 cups (1.9 L) of fresh, clean, packed snow in a shallow clean container near the stovetop.

Heat the maple syrup on the stovetop until it reaches a boil.
Step 4/10
Stir the boiling syrup occasionally with a wooden spoon.
Step 5/10
Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook the syrup for about 15 minutes.

Check that the syrup reaches 235–240°F (113–116°C) using a candy thermometer.
Step 7/10
Remove the saucepan from the heat once the syrup reaches the target temperature.
Step 8/10
Pour one-quarter of the hot maple syrup in a thin line over the snow.
Step 9/10
Place one popsicle stick into the cooling taffy and swirl the taffy around the stick.
Step 10/10
Repeat with the remaining hot maple syrup and serve the taffy pops immediately.
