Preparation Steps
Step 1/9
Preheat the oven to 180ยฐC (350ยฐF). Lightly oil an ovenproof baking dish.
Step 2/9
Whisk the all-purpose flour, 100 g caster sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and 15 g cocoa powder in a mixing bowl.
Step 3/9
Whisk the egg, vegetable oil, milk, and hot coffee in a second mixing bowl.
Step 4/9
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Whisk just until a smooth batter forms.
Step 5/9
Pour the batter into the prepared ovenproof baking dish. Smooth the surface with a spoon.
Step 6/9
Mix the remaining 40 g caster sugar, brown sugar, and remaining 20 g cocoa powder in a bowl. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the batter.
Step 7/9
Boil the hot water in a kettle. Gently pour the 160 ml hot water over the sugar topping without stirring.
Step 8/9
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the cake surface is set. Keep the pudding warm so the chocolate sauce remains underneath.
Step 9/9
Spoon the warm pudding into serving bowls. Serve immediately with the chocolate sauce from the base of the dish.
